Daniel Sturridge Not Ruling Out Leaving Liverpool

Apr 30, 2016 1:33 PM

Daniel Sturridge said he cannot rule out leaving Liverpool in the future.

Sturridge signed for Liverpool from Chelsea in 2013 and he has since scored 43 Premier League goals from 67 appearances. Sturridge has been limited by recurring injuries.

Asked about his future, Sturridge told the Daily Mirror: "There are things I want to achieve with Liverpool. [But] I would never say I am Liverpool until I die, because I would be lying.

"I think any player who says, 'Oh yeah, this is the only team I will play for, for the rest of my life,' they are deluded. In football, every team looks for replacements every single year.

"So for myself all I can do every weekend is go out there, perform as well as I can, perform to the best of my abilities, and then come the end of the season hopefully have the European Championship to look forward to ... and to next year."

"Would that move be welcomed? Yes, Roma is a possibility to consider."

Bayern Discussing Mats Hummels Deal With Dortmund

Apr 28, 2016 9:04 AM

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are in talks about a transfer of Mats Hummels.

In recent years, both Mario Götze and Robert Lewandowski have left Dortmund for Bayern.

Central defense has been an issue this season for Bayern due to injuries.

On Monday night the Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said that “if Hummels leaves it will be to join Bayern Munich” and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, as Bayern were preparing to fly to Madrid for their Champions League semi-final against Atlético Madrid, said: “I can pretty much confirm what Mr Watzke said last night and that is that Mats is talking to Bayern.

“But these are talks between three parties and please understand that I cannot go into more detail at this moment. We have to respect that he is under contract at the moment [until 2017] and I don’t want to ruin the good relationship we have built up [with Dortmund] with some comments today.”

Chelsea To Again Pursue John Stones

Apr 22, 2016 12:15 PM

Chelsea plan on again picking up their pursuit of John Stones this summer.

Everton resisted the efforts of Jose Mourinho and Chelsea to sign Stones last summer. Stones was close to joining Chelsea from Barnsley in January of 2013 but he opted instead to move to Everton for £3 million.

Antonio Conte will take over as manager of Chelsea in the summer.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Barcelona will also pursue Stones as he's one of the world's most promising center-halfs.

Mats Hummels Losing Sleep Over Possible Transfer

Apr 21, 2016 11:49 AM

Mats Hummels has been having difficulty sleeping as he considers his options for next season.

Hummels has been linked to the transfer market for several seasons and that's coming to a possible impasse with his contract expiring with Borussia Dortmund after the 16-17 season.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with Hummels.

“It’s a very difficult decision, and when I finally make it people will understand how hard it is for me," said Hummels. "It’s been taking me at least half an hour extra to fall asleep for several weeks now because this is such a big issue for me."

Hummels' father and agent, Hermann Hummels, says he could return to Bayern Munich. Hummels was part of Bayern's reserve team from 2005 until 2008 before his move to Dortmund.

“Mats is facing an enormously important decision in his career, in his life,” said Hermann Hummels. “Dortmund are back among Europe’s best clubs and that is making the decision even harder for him. If he were to leave Dortmund, then he could only go to five or six top clubs, and of course Bayern are one of them.”

City Want To Move Forward With Signing Aymeric Laporte Despite Injury

Apr 20, 2016 7:06 PM

Manchester City intend to move forward with adding Aymeric Laporte as one of Pep Guardiola's first signings despite being ruled out until August with a broken leg and dislocated ankle.

Guardiola has identified Laporte among the players he wants to bring in this summer.

Guardiola sees Laporte as an upgrade on Martin Demichelis at center half.

City have been monitoring John Stones’ potential availability at Everton, acutely aware that both Chelsea and Manchester United would like to tempt him away from Goodison, but Guardiola’s belief is that Laporte can play at the highest level for the next 10 years.

Laporte has a £39.6 million release clause with Athletic Bilbao.

Barcelona Not Considering Sale Of Neymar

Apr 20, 2016 12:41 PM

Barcelona director Jordi Mestre says the club have not thought about selling Neymar this summer.

With Barcelona in a slump, there has been renewed talk of a potential sale of Neymar.

Sport has reported that such stories have been leaked by Barca board members, who are considering selling the player this summer should potential suitors such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester United meet his €190 million release clause.

"Of course not," Barcelona director Jordi Mestre said. "That is something that keeps coming up, but I have said it many times -- we are delighted with Neymar. And Neymar will not be sold. We have not even thought about doing it.

"When he signed for us, he made a financial effort as other clubs were going to give him more money. He came here to play because he wanted to play good football, alongside [Leo] Messi, to win trophies.

"This season he has been spectacular. For sure, that he has not scored recently, or things have not gone as he wanted, has brought out some comments, but they are pure speculation."
